Generosity Moments

Thank you for your generosity in supporting First A.M.E. Church of Alexandria.
This week we were blessed to receive a very generous donation this week that we praise God for in the amount of $4000. This was given because someone specifically heard about our food pantry twice a month.
Every other Wednesday, the FAME Community Development Center (CDC) provides fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, staples, milk and dairy products, and an assortment miscellaneous goods and clothes, to 200 people. This is made possible by gifts from you as well as CDC grants. People line up as early as 8:00 AM for 11:00 AM on food distribution days.
While we have been blessed to receive grants to support our pantry, our prayer is that one day we can expand what we do here in Alexandria but expand our ministry to maybe provide food or disaster relief all over the world.
Our Ministry provide support to families who need a little help paying rent or mortgage when we can. There are humanitarian crises here in the United States, and in places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, where fighting forced thousands and thousands of families to flee their homes and take refuge in AME Churches in the area.
They need help to provide food and support. We want to continue to be a blessing here in the local community but also wherever God wants to use us to make a difference all over the world.

Hello FAME FAmily,

This information was posted to Facebook, but it is being sent via email for those who are not social media.

We are in the Advent season. The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival”. As Christians, we are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and His return at the Second Coming. During the morning worship service yesterday, we lit the first candle, “the candle of hope”. With everything that is going on in the world today, it may seem that all hope is gone. Please take some time during this week to focus on the importance of having hope by reading and meditating on the following scriptures:

Romans 4:18, “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”

Isaiah 9:2, 6-7, “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light.

For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. […] For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
I Corinthians 2:9, “… No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Psalm 27:13-14, “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Hebrews 6:19-20, “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.”

2 Thessalonians 2:16, “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, ...”

Romans 5:5, “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”
